The history of our firm:

• In the beginning: One of Finkel Law Firm LLC's prominent cases was the Mims v. Yarborough, 343 F.Supp. 1143 (D.C.S.C. 1971), where the firm represented the Plaintiffs. After this monumental case, Finkel Law Firm LLC made a conscious commitment to take on complex legal matters. The Mims case involved a lawsuit for an injunction against public officials who were being charged with wrongfully managing a proposed water project. Finkel Law Firm LLC was also able to successfully use federal antitrust laws in a companion case (Mims v. Kemp, 516 F.2d 21 (4 th Cir. 1975). Over the years, the firm has continued in its commitment to complex litigation, earning a name as one of the leading litigation firms in South Carolina.
• The 1980s: Finkel Law Firm LLC represented Marathon Oil Company, a major creditor, in a $60 million claim in the Hilton Head Bankruptcy. The firm also represented Brittons and Sam Solomon Company in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings and represented the Braswell Shipyards, Inc. bankruptcy.
• The 1990s: Finkel Law Firm LLC's Lucas v. South Carolina Coastal Counsel, 60 L.W. 4842 (1992) case successfully disputed South Carolina's Beach Front Management Act, requiring that the state pay for the statute's effect on individual home owners and property owners. The firm has successfully represented developers of South Carolina's tallest buildings in the bankruptcy case of Capital Center Associates, Inc., a case involving over $50 million in claims. Finkel Law Firm LLC has also represented developers such as Frontage Realty Limited Partnership, Park Area Development, West-Mar, Stoneridge Limited Partnership, and Columbia Capital Holding Corporation.
• The 2000s: Finkel Law Firm LLC began to grow its construction litigation practice and foreclosure practice during the early part of the decade. By 2005, the firm had resolved millions of dollars in construction litigation claims for homeowners. In 2006, the firm settled two large cases involving beach front condominiums, obtaining significant settlements for homeowners associations for much-needed repairs. Additionally, the firm's foreclosure department grew to be able to handle millions of dollars in foreclosures annually. Finkel Law Firm LLC continues to be known as one of the most reputable and trusted firms in South Carolina courts. In Federal courts, the firm has represented the Plan Trustee in bankruptcies for HomeGold, Inc., HomeGold Financial, Inc., and Carolina Investors, Inc. and conducted federal litigation against former directors, officers, and insurance carriers.
